Audiobooks

Some of our most delighted clients are audiobook publishers. Part of that is because of the quiet, comfortable space we provide to their authors.

All pro audio presentations require supreme attention to detail. Every detail. What’s unique about audiobooks is the length of time everyone must sustain that attention!

Then, too, the author may be doing this for the first time. We have to get him or her acquainted with the usual process of studio recording, with how to handle mistakes and retakes, and how to deal with feedback from both a director and an engineer.

Our main job is to make the narrator/author comfortable. Because when we’re comfortable, we can relax and create.

Our high level of care saves clients time and money, and helps them craft something they’re proud to release to those picky audiobook listeners.

How We Can Help

… with Audiobook Production

“Creativity lives in the state of play.” — Dan Popp

The Studio.

It’s not only acoustically neutral and quiet; it’s comfortable.  Those audiobook sessions can be long.  When the atmosphere is relaxed, everyone feels free to play.

Recording.

State-of-the art microphones, preamps, and recording hardware and software are just the beginning.  An experienced engineer is crucial as your “extra ears” during tracking an audiobook.

Editing.

Often, we’re uploading files to be edited by the crew in New York (for example), but we can also provide this service.

Send us an email to get the conversation started about recording your audiobook!

“Thank you so much for the fantastic job and the excellent work.  Colors Audio is officially on Hachette Audio’s list of go-to studios around the country.”
Elece Green

Producer, Hachette Audio

“We’ve had several of our authors record with Dan Popp at Colors Audio, and every author’s experience has been excellent! Dan is professional, easy to work with, and knows how to make narrators feel comfortable while still delivering top-tier audio quality. JMM prides itself on white-glove treatment of all our authors, and Dan carried that banner very well for us!  Highly recommend, 5 stars. If there are stars.”
