Voice Acting Coaching

Voice acting is a work of imagination, not manipulation.
— Dan Popp

Dan has been training voice actors — officially — since 2014.  Unofficially he’s worked with peers and those just starting out in the business for a lot longer.

He’s currently available for private coaching.  Please email dan@colorsaudio.com to learn more.

How We Can Help

… with Voice Acting Training

People have some funny ideas about what voice acting is, and even wilder ideas about what instruction in voice acting might be. So we usually start our training with a little myth-busting. Then we build a foundation upon some proven concepts of acting, and I help the student learn and use several techniques for turning someone else’s words into a performance.

And the process never ends; we’re always learning, unlearning, refining our techniques, and challenging ourselves as voice actors.

It isn’t an easy craft, but it is rewarding when you make a client’s script come alive, and everyone feels that.

This website was designed by Dave Stofka, of Stofka Creative, Ltd..

The high-resolution photographs were taken by Todd Biss and Autumn Bland Hudson for Todd Biss Productions. Students took the pictures of the voice acting training. I took the rest.

Sandy McDonald did SEO optimization and Eric Merkel did additional fine-tuning of the website, both for Sozo Technologies, LLC.

“I was able to do a second audiobook which came out a few days ago, and I am so excited about that! Every time I worked on it, I wanted to emulate the process you kept highlighting … and that was to see everything. Thanks again. I know that if I’ve got more questions, there is someone I can ask.”
